These aren't your standard dyed hoodies. Pigment dyeing happens after the hoodie is fully built, using high heat and long wash cycles to push pigment deep into the fabric surface. That heat deliberately breaks in the cotton, producing a faded, worn-in look that regular dyeing just can't replicate.
Because of the intense heat involved, these hoodies are cut a bit larger on purpose. During the pigment-dye process, the cotton shrinks and settles. Once finished, pigment-dyed styles will never shrink smaller than non-pigment colors—they simply keep a slightly roomier fit.
This is a longer, more costly production method that adds handling, washing, and risk—one most manufacturers steer clear of. The reward is clear: rich color depth, uneven fades, and a broken-in feel that's ready to wear from day one.
Treated garments like these are positioned and sold at higher retail. Customers recognize the finish, and brands benefit from stronger perceived value and better margins.
